Filmmaker producer Karan Johar, who has been a constant target for trolls for favouring only insiders and engaging in nepotism, has now hit back with a strong statement. Karan was present at the 'Yodha' trailer launch in Ahmedabad with the cast members - Sidharth Malhotra, Disha Patani, and Raashii Khanna.

Directed by the debutant duo of Sagar Ambre and Pushkar Ojha, the high-octane action thriller film follows Arun Katyal, the commanding officer of an elite unit, Yodha Task Force, on a thrilling rescue operation. The trailer features Sidharth, following his father's legacy of being an officer.

Karan said, “He (Sidharth) has ventured into a beautiful new territory and I am proud as a parent for him. As somebody who has seen him evolve from strength to strength, it makes me very joyous to know, and to everyone who accuses us of working only with insiders, Shashank Khaitan is our brand ambassador of an outsider, Sagar and Pushkar represent outsiders. So the next time anyone trolls us I will look at 'Yodha' because the lead is also an outsider."

The film is produced by Hiroo Yash Johar, Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Shashank Khaitan.

Mehta, CEO of Dharma Productions confirmed that the film “most definitely is a franchise.”

The trailer was launched mid-air in a flight packed with journalists. Speaking on the same, Karan said, "Steering clear of the conventional approach, we strived to infuse innovative ideas into Yodha's promotional campaign. Our goal was to bring out the film's larger-than-life essence through a series of trend-setting events and interactive experiences, and engross the audience in its world even before they set foot in the cinema halls. It was truly a surreal experience to unveil the trailer mid-flight on an aircraft and watch it through the lens of members of the media. The spark in their eyes spoke volumes about the impact it had on them. I personally interacted with some of them, and their reactions - not just to the trailer but also to the in-flight launch - were nothing short of exhilarating."

Earlier the film was first scheduled to release on November 11, 2022, and the makers pushed the release date to July 2023, September 15, December 15 and then moved it to December 8. Now, the film is set to release on March 15, 2024.
