Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon

Despite the array of love stories he has fronted, Shahid Kapoor says the genre is a tough one to crack. Talking about his next, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, in which he is paired opposite Kriti Sanon, he said, “I have been missing doing something light and fun, but, honestly, it is the most difficult genre to crack. I listen to 10 scripts a month. It is so difficult to find scripts that make you feel like you could offer something new to the audience with them. Love stories are the most difficult genre to do,” he said at the trailer launch.

On the floor

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s anticipated series, Gandhi, has commenced production, the makers said yesterday. The series is based on historian and author Ramachandra Guha’s books— Gandhi before India and Gandhi: The Years that Changed the World. In a press note, the makers said the series is an international production and will be shot at various Indian and foreign locations. It will star Pratik Gandhi as Mahatma Gandhi, and marks the director-actor duo’s third collaboration.

First together

Rapper Divine and Karan Aujla are set to collaborate on their first single together, titled 100 Million. Touted as a celebration of the duo’s musical journey, the track is described by Aujla as one that showcases “our growth as artistes over the years”.

We’ve got a name

Ajay Devgn and filmmaker Vikas Bahl’s upcoming movie has been titled Shaitaan and will release in theatres on March 8, the makers announced yesterday. The supernatural thriller, which will also feature R Madhavan and Jyothika in pivotal roles, is described as a tale that will take viewers on a “sinister journey with elements of Indian black magic”. The movie marks the first collaboration between the star and Bahl, known for films such as Queen, Super 30 and Goodbye.

A fight for the title

Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan has been nominated at the Vulture Annual Stunt Awards. The international award, hosted by media organisation Vulture, was started in 2023, to honour and recognise the excellence in stunt work done by individuals. Pathaan’s climax scene between Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham has bagged a nomination in the Best Aerial Stunt category. The film has also been nominated for Best Overall Action Film, alongside Hollywood movies like Tom Cruise-starrer Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part-1, Keanu Reeves’ John Wick 4, and Vin Diesel’s Fast X.

Value me

Two decades after he made his industry debut, Vivek Oberoi says he wants to only collaborate with people who value his contribution. The actor, who features in Rohit Shetty’s streaming series, Indian Police Force, says, “It’s frustrating to wait and [think], somebody [needs to] get me something exciting to do. I don’t think you get work by networking, lobbying, and going to parties. That’s not the way I want to work. I want [to get] work like [I do now]. Rohit called me, valued me, and said, ‘Give it your best’. That respect is essential for me. I’m not somebody jo katora leke jayega aur bolega kaam dedo, mere paas kaam nahin hai.” He added that since he is not dependent on acting to pay his bills, he wants to do projects that challenge him.

Director Kunal’s next set to air

Actor Kunal Kemmu’s directorial debut, Madgaon Express, will open in theatres on March 22. Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar’s production banner Excel Entertainment announced the release date of the film via an Instagram post and also unveiled the first look of the film. “Bachpan ke sapne, lag gaye apne! Madgaon Express mein aapka swagat hai. Taiyaar ho jao ek yaadgaar yatra ke liye,” the post read. The comic film follows the journey of three childhood friends—played by Pratik Gandhi, Divyenndu and Avinash Tiwary. As they embark on a trip to Goa, their plan goes off track.
