Rumours are rife that Vicky Kaushal has opted out of Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, starring Ajay Devgn. His exit is attributed to the clash of dates with his next, Chhava, director Laxman Utekar’s biopic on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj that rolls this September. Apparently, the actor couldn’t allot dates for the combination shoot in October with Ajay, Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh. Apparently, Vicky explained his predicament to the filmmaker, who understood the actor’s commitment to playing Sambhaji Maharaj. However, Rohit’s production house issued a statement addressing the speculation over Singham Again’s casting. It read, “The film is currently in pre-production. We request the media to refrain from making any premature announcements at this stage. We will be making an official starcast announcement soon.”

Another wedding film on cards
Five years after Veere Di Wedding, producers Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor are planning a sequel. Shashanka Ghosh’s directorial venture featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam K Ahuja, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania emerged a runaway hit when it released. A source says that the two producers have begun work on the sequel, tentatively titled, Veere Di Wedding 2. “The concept has been finalised and scripting is underway. Only after the final draft is complete, will they finalise the cast,” shares the informer, adding that the film will go on floors next year. It remains to be seen if Bebo, Sonam, Swara and Shikha will feature in the next wedding instalment.
New dream girl in tinsel town
Ayushmann Khurrana shared the first look of his dual avatars in Dream Girl 2 on social media yesterday. Like the 2019 hit, the Dream Girl sequel will also see the return of his feminine avatar, Pooja. Along with a glimpse of his two looks in the movie, Ayushmann wrote, “Yeh toh sirf pehli jhalak hai. Objects in the mirror are more khoobsurat than they appear!” His wife Tahira Kashyap reacted to his post by dropping heart eyes and fire emojis, while actor Amruta Khanvilkar commented, “Areeeee koi seeti bajao.”
Sharvari’s filmi obsession
Sharvari Wagh is currently in Jodhpur, shooting with John Abraham for Vedaa, in which she plays the titular role. What she is most excited about this action thriller is that it gives her an opportunity to work with Nikkhil Advani, the director of one of her favourite films, Kal Ho Naa Ho (KHNH). “I have watched it more than 20 times. It is a cult film for all of us ’90s kids and no party or occasion was complete until we danced to the songs of KHNH. I remember learning the hook steps of its songs and then showing it off at parties. I do it even now,” Sharvari shares. She goes on to praise the dialogues, saying, “My favourite line is ‘Jiyo! Khush raho! Muskurao.. kya pata, kal ho naa ho!’. This dialogue spoke about self-love, self-care and happiness and I think it was way ahead of its time.” Calling her collaboration with Nikkhil a learning curve, she says, “As a newcomer, I want to absorb as much knowledge as I can from him.”
Pooja has no regrets
Pooja Bhatt was her candid self while interacting with co-contestants in the reality show, Bigg Boss OTT 2. Recalling her Bollywood journey in the Salman Khan-hosted show that is streaming on JioCinema, the actor-filmmaker stated that she is always enthusiastic about trying new things. She shared that her life revolves around the belief: ‘If you are the smartest in a room, you are in the wrong room.’ Explaining that she doesn’t regret any of the things she has done in life, Pooja said, “I only have regrets of things that I have not done, not for the things I have done! I feel it is important to at least try [to do what you want to do]. Either you will lose something or you will gain everything.” Before walking out of the show, the actor told the house-mates, “We can’t hide what and who we are. The audience understands everything. One amongst us will only win, it is important to try and give our best.”
Teaming up for a thriller
Even as Dhoom Dhaam, Yami Gautam’s second film with filmmaker-husband Aditya Dhar is being readied for release, the two are set to team up again. This time around for a political thriller, inspired by real incidents. Dhar, who will be producing the yet-untitled film, has reportedly roped in National Award-winning Goan filmmaker Aditya Suhas Jambhale to helm it. Yami loved the script of the intense drama that revolves around a strong-willed woman caught in unusual circumstances. The film is slated to roll this September and will be extensively shot in Delhi and Kashmir.
