Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, and Arshad Warsi are both excited and exhausted with the promotion pandemonium that surrounds their upcoming action-comedy Bachchhan Paandey. As they sit down to chat about their film, they make some surprising revelations, get candid on a lot of other stuff apart from this entertainer that releases on March 18.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi are working together, their first collaboration being the 2002 Jaani Dushman- Ek Anokhi Kahani. Ask Warsi about it and he’s immediately displeased in all the comical ways. “I’ll kill you if you mention that.” Kriti Sanon jumps in and reveals, “I used to mention that everyday on sets.” So how was it like working with Kumar two decades back for Warsi? He says, “We didn’t work as such. That’s a different world of cinema, that’s another story.” Kriti continues, “Listen, it comes a lot on TV.” Warsi quips, “Next question.”

Kriti plays a filmmaker wanting to make a film on Kumar’s character Bachchhan Paandey. Which are some of her favourite films of the actor? “Which are my favourite films of Akshay Kumar? There are so many yaar. Hmm Namastey London, recent if I say, I loved Good Newwz. And I loved Aflatoon, like I loved it.” Akshay gives a hard look to Kriti at this revelation and the actress says, “Why are you looking at me like that?” Kumar says, “Flop.” Kriti asks a counter question to the actor, “I loved it, you don’t like the film?” Kumar replies, “Gaane Bahut Acchhe The (The songs were good).” Kriti asks, “Film nahin achchi thi? (The film was not good)” Arshad jumps in between and says, “You are going to make them fight.” Kriti says again, “I actually loved it. I loved Mission Mangal also.”

Taking forward Akshay’s statement on the songs, when asked about the importance of songs in his movies’ success, he says, “I actually give a lot of credit to music and I focus on music a lot too. I’m fond of music. I also buy the music of a lot of new artists, I have my own mini T-Series.”

I ask him about some of his most underrated films that truly were some of his most accomplished performances as an actor. The names include Sangharsh, Jaan-E-Mann, Brothers, Patiala House. Akshay, in his witty and unpredictably comical demeanour, retorts, “You have mentioned all flop films, you haven’t mentioned any film that did well.” But does he feel the media needs to look beyond the action and comedic image of Akshay Kumar? He says, “But I’m happy about what the media thinks. Wherever they are looking, I’m happy.”

Talking about happy, when is Arshad coming with Asur 2. He reveals, “June-July, even better this time.” Will Kriti Sanon ever direct a film? “No”, comes a straightforward reply. Arshad asks the actress, “Why are they after you directing?” Kriti explains, “Because I’m directing in the film. Now you got it?” Akshay says, “Yes, now he got it.” Arshad then talks about his character Circuit and says, “I forgot how to play that in Lage Raho Munna Bhai. I saw Munna Bhai again and then played the character. Makarand Deshpande said no to that role.”

Why is everyone after Akshay Kumar’s money, his fees?” Kumar says, “I don’t know, I think you should ask them.”
