Bhumi Pednekar recently shared a personal experience in an interview. When she was 14 years old, during a fair in Bandra, Mumbai, she was groped. Bhumi vividly recalls the incident, mentioning that someone repeatedly pinched her during the crowded event. Despite being aware of what was happening, she couldn't identify the culprit due to the dense crowd.

In an interview with Hauterrfly, Bhumi Pednekar on being 'inappropriately' touched at age 14, said, "I remember this very very clearly. In Bandra, fairs used to happen back then. I was a teenager, probably 14, and was with my family. I knew what was happening… it’s not like I was unaware. I was walking and somebody kept pinching my a*s."

She expressed that the experience left a lasting impact on her, and the memory of the inappropriate touching still lingers. Bhumi shared that even though she was with her family and other kids from her building, the shock of the incident prevented her from speaking up at that moment. She said, ""Though I looked back, I couldn’t understand who did it because it was very crowded. Somebody tried touching me inappropriately again and again and I was getting paranoid. Though I was with my family, there also was a whole bunch of kids from my building as well. But I didn’t say anything at that time because I was thrown off by what had happened."

Talking about the trauma, she said, "I remember the poking and the pinching. It’s like your body remembers… these are traumas that you can’t get over,"

Bhumi Pednekar's work front

Currently, Bhumi Pednekar is not only successful in her acting career but is also known for being vocal about environmental and social issues. Her latest project is the thriller film "Bhakshak," where she portrays the role of a journalist. The movie is scheduled to be released on Netflix on February 9, 2024.

Bhumi Pednekar couldn’t get Bhakshak’s script out of her mind for almost six months after initially passing it up due to factors beyond her control. It was a clear sign that she had to headline it. In a conversation with Mid-day.com she said, "When the film came to me during the lockdown, I loved it. For some reason, things didn’t work out at that point. But from then till I started working on it, I re-read the script, and there wasn’t a day when this film didn’t haunt me. I kept feeling guilty [about passing it up],”
