Aamir Khan convinced Mona Singh to audition for Laal Singh Chaddha
In a recent talk with Entertainment Live, Mona opened up about her conversation with the Bollywood icon often called 'Mr. Perfectionist.' She shared, "“We were talking during the shoot of Laal Singh Chaddha. I haven’t given many auditions after Jassi. I used to get shows without auditions. So, I used to feel why is someone calling me for an audition. I used to take it personally ki inko bharosa nahin hai ki audition ke liye bula rahe hain (they don’t trust me that they are calling me for an audition) So, I told Aamir sir that they called me for Laal Singh’s audition but I don’t feel comfortable with auditions.”
In a chat, Aamir Khan told Mona Singh not to take auditions personally. He stressed the importance of actors understanding that filmmakers need to be sure if they're the right fit for a role. The Bollywood superstar shared, "You should think about the makers as well. They need to see whether you look like the character or not. What is your accent? If you match it a little bit also, makers become sure that you can pull off the character. But if it doesn’t match a bit, they get to know in the audition itself. That does not mean you are good or bad. Nobody is judging you. They are only seeing whether they will get their character in the actor or not.”
Mona Singh on Laal Singh Chaddha
On ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ one year anniversary, actress Mona Singh took a stroll down memory lane and shared her experience working with Aamir Khan in the film.
“Laal Singh Chaddha was a game-changer for me, and I, as Gurpreet Kaur, left a significant mark in the film. Working with Aamir has always been challenging and intense, and Laal Singh Chaddha was my second film with him after 3 Idiots. I played a contrasting character with a full life span of 18 to 60, which was quite challenging to portray, and the people saw a whole gamut of portrayals,” Mona said.
“I am glad the character came out so well and was widely accepted by the audience, and I was taken aback by the overwhelming response received for the film. I still remember a shooting experience from my last day where Laal’s mother died with so much courage and bravery, and after the shot was completed, Aamir and Advait Chandan instantly hugged me, and everyone on the set started clapping and crying at the same time,” Mona added.
