Zokkomon- Movies review

Zokkomon
U; Action/Kids
Dir: Satyajit Bhatkal
Cast: Darsheel Safary, Manjari Fadnis, Anupam Kher
Rating: *1/2

Et tu, kittu? Darsheel Safary and Manjari Fadnis bond

What's it about: A poor li'l orphaned rich guy gets cheated out of his inheritance by a conniving uncle. Finds solace in conwoman who he makes his moohboli didi. Uncle claims inheritance by going to elaborate lengths to 'kill' the boy. Boy returns, confused. Annoys mad scientist enough to make him his guinea pig that can fly, become invisible and write his name with smoke. All this while getting the gullible people in his village to throw off the yoke of oppression. Yes, it's that hackneyed!

What's hot: If you're a kid who didn't know any better, you'd clap your way through this one. The VFX in this flick sets the benchmark for sci-fi flicks in the kiddie flick genre. Satyajit and his art department/set design teams have done a commendable job in bringing the village to life.u00a0 Kher delivers. Darsheel is competent. Manjari is likeable.

What's not: The costume department needs to be fired. The music is very forgettable. And everybody is a little confused about the whys and hows of Zokko's superpowers and why he needs to undergo a boot camp.

What to do: Boring, contrived, confused, tiring fare. Avoid.
