Workers employed for the set construction of Hrithik Roshan-starrer 'Mohenjo Daro' have ended their stir, a few days after hitlist reported about their stir over payment issues (To pay or not to pay).

They were demanding one and half times their daily wage as the set — Ramdev Studios, Naigaon — was located outside Mumbai, while the makers insisted that they were under instructions from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees to pay them regular wages.

Now, however, the makers have conceded their demands. Confirming the news, Gangeshwar Lal Shrivastava, general secretary of Allied Mazdoor Union, says, “The set construction work has resumed after a brief interval. The workers’ demands have been met and they are being paid 1.5 times their wages.”

As per the previou report, Shrivastava had alleged that the film’s producers denied higher wages to workers as the federation had issued a circular stating that they will only be paid their regular wages, and not 1.5 times of it as followed over the last 30 years. However, FWICE general secretary Dilip Pithwa had then claimed that the workers were not only being given one and half times their pay, but the set erection work was also on.

The shooting for the Ashutosh Gowariker film is scheduled to begin in the next couple of days. It will mark the Bollywood debut of Pooja Hegde, who will be seen as Hrithik’s ladylove.
