Alia Bhatt possibly won't be cast as the leading lady in Rohit Shetty's upcoming directorial Simmba, which stars Ranveer Singh in the lead. The film is reportedly a remake of the 2015 Telugu hit Temper.

There were speculations that Alia Bhatt had been approached by the filmmaker for Golmaal Again, but she kept director Rohit Shetty hanging by not committing to the project. It was then rumoured that Shetty had decided to cast Shraddha Kapoor, but the role eventually went to Parineeti Chopra and the movie went on to gross over 200 crores at the box-office.

According to DNA, some sources say that Rohit Shetty is apparently upset at being held up by Alia Bhatt, when he wanted to cast her in Golmaal Again and may possibly not want to sign her for Simmba.

Meanwhile, Alia who recently wrapped up shooting for Meghna Gulzar's upcoming directorial Raazi, which also stars Vicky Kaushal, is filming for Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy, which interestingly stars Ranveer Singh. She is also a part of Karan Johar's upcoming production venture, the superhero film Brahmastra, which will see her share screen with Ranbir Kapoor for the first time.

Ranveer Singh, who is currently riding high on the success of Padmaavat, is playing a rapper in Gully Boy. Ranveer and Alia have previously collaborated in a series of ads for a travel portal.
