Saying it with the bat

Gautam Gambhir, popularly known as 'Gauti' recently won the CEAT International Cricketer and Batsman of the Year Award.

In fact, he is being touted as the next 'wall' of the Indian cricket team after the illustrious Rahul Dravid. Here's some dope on Gautam:

He is the only fourth Indian batsman after Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar to score more than 300 runs in four consecutive test series.u00a0

In July 2009, he was ranked the number one batsman for ten days in the ICC Test rankings.u00a0

Gambhir had a lean run in 2005 and 2007 when he was dropped from the test team after a bad season against Sri Lanka.u00a0

Gambhir solidified his place in the test team after a superb show in the Border-Gavaskar trophy in 2008, where he was the top scorer.

He was also involved in a minor controversy when he was accused of elbowing Shane Watson.u00a0

Gautam likes to unwind by reading, playing on his Playstation and going for long drives.u00a0

Gambhir idolises Sourav Ganguly, whom he admires for his aggressiveness and astute strategic sense.
