Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon sparked a controversy on Twitter with her post on 'saree' where she targeted trolls, who labelled her as 'bhakt'.
"A saree day... Will I be termed communal, Sanghi, bhakt, hindutva icon? If I say I love wearing the saree and I think it's the most elegant. (sic)" the actress tweeted.

Soon after her tweet, Raveena Randon was trolled on the micro-blogging site for 'communalising' saree.
A Twitter user posted, "Are you trying for a comeback in movie? Or trying to get a Sanghi seat in 2019? (sic)"
Raveena Tandon was also mocked for her bizarre tweet.
Here are some Twitter reactions:
That sari is almost as beautiful as your faux victimhood is nauseating.

Miss @TandonRaveena shouldn't worry about being labelled as a Sanghi, since many non-Sanghi women also wore Saree, like Mother Teresa. pic.twitter.com/YoFs2LI8DT

.@TandonRaveena, I'm not a "communal,Sanghi,bhakt,hindutva icon" & here's my Kerala saree. Hope @TimesNow doesn't call it Pakistani saree ðÂÂÂÂu00c2u009fÂÂÂÂu00c2u0098ÂÂÂÂu00c2u0081 pic.twitter.com/81XCtjsAK4

The woman is a vacuous embarassment. To see the sari as a newly discovered patriotic totem, reveals her natural habitat as cloud cuckoo land https://t.co/p4denblwf2

Indian women wearing it for ages would be stunned to know they are walking-talking ads for BJP

Dont care what saree Raveena is wearing or what she's saying about it unless it's a yellow saree & she's dancing & saying Tip Tip Barsa Pani

Raveena Tandon, however, later issued a clarification, saying her intention was not to give a communal colour to the attire.
Raveena also hit back at Twitter trolls for indicating that she is voicing her opinion to further her political ambitions. She said she is not interested in joining politics.
Raveena Tandon said, "All those thinking I want to get into politics. I am not interested. Was offered by TMC. Congress, and BJP. Said No."
She even justified her 'saree' tweet.
"The reason that I put a disclaimer for saying I love the saree! Nowadays can be trolled for anything and can be twisted to suit narrative... Last I knew one was in a democracy and could practice your faith without being targeted and called names," she said.
The 'Mohra' actress added, "Saree is a beautiful elegant Indian garment. My tweet was not to communalise saree. Was my fear of being trolled to say I love anything Indian."
The actress even apologised for her tweet.
"If it has come across as anything else. I apologise. That was not the intention. Had not thought that it would be misunderstood the way it has."
