Actress insists she didn't bag Prabhu Deva's upcoming film just because both of them speak Tamil
After weeks of speculation, Shruti Haasan has finally been signed by Prabhu Deva for his forthcoming film.u00a0The two haven’t worked with each other before and understandably, Shruti is looking forward to the project. Meanwhile, did the fact that both the choreographer-turned-director and Shruti are South Indians played a role in her bagging the role? Well, she disagrees.

Shruti whose last appearance in a Hindi feature film was for Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji last year feels the very idea is absurd. She says, “Our regional or lingual background hardly matters. I don’t believe it works that way. Also, I don’t think I’m doing the film just because Prabhu Deva and I are both Tamils!”
So what exactly prompted her to sign the dotted line? The singer-actor has a convincing reply for that too. “I love working in Bollywood. And to me, the scale of a character in the film matters the most. It doesn’t bother me whether the film is a remake or an original,” she adds.u00a0The untitled project is likely to be a remake of a popular South film. Shruti stated that she’s not at liberty to divulge anything about the role she’s going to portray.
On being asked what she thinks of Prabhu Deva’s lack of command on Hindi, the actress refused to comment before adding, “Prabhu Deva is very clear, efficient and good with his work. It just helps you keep your focus on your performance and not worry about other things.”u00a0
