It has become something of a norm for B-Towners to also be devotees of the Tirupati Balaji temple.

Kangna Ranaut was a rare exception to that rule (to her defense, she has been meaning to visit for six years now)... until last week. She was there to seek blessings for her next, Tanu Weds Manu.

u00a0She says, "I went to Tirupati last week with my brother and sister, for the first time since coming to Mumbai. We go to Vaishno Devi more often.

But when I came to Mumbai, people kept telling me to visit the Tirupati Balaji temple. I wanted to, for many years now, but work commitments kept coming in the way.

I was determined to go this time around. The trip was hectic and stressful but worth it. I loved my experience there. He (Balaji) is so powerful."

u00a0Kangs was keen on divine intervention for her film Tanu Weds Manu. "It's a film that is very special to me.

I had a close brush with death and almost lost my leg while shooting for the film so I have literally given my blood, sweat and tears for it. It's a film that's like my special child.

I had gone to seek blessings for the film at Tirupati

About parallels with her character in TWM, she says, "I feel I am Tanu in many ways. I too come from a small town like her, am rebellious and suffer a cultural conflict.

I feel this is my best work so far and a far cry from the traumatised characters I have played in my earlier films."
