If the latest buzz is to be believed, film editor Namrata Rao, who is considered one of the most promising scissor-happy hands in the industry, is turning director with a Yash Raj production.

Namrata, who bagged the National Award for Best Editor for 'Kahaani' (2012), had always desired to helm a film and it seems like her dream is finally taking shape.
Says a source, "Namrata has edited several of Yash Raj productions and has a good rapport with its head honcho, Aditya Chopra. She is always shown the rough cuts of their films for approval. So it's only natural that Aditya give her a break as a director."
It was apparently because of her rapport with YRF that the production house backed her ex-hubby, writer-director Kanu Behl's film 'Titli' (which has done the festival rounds)."
Namrata started her editing career with 'Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!' (2008) and went on to work on films like 'Ishqiya' (2010), 'Band Baaja Baaraat' (2010), 'Love Sex aur Dhokha' (2010), in which she also acted. This year's releases 'Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!' and 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' were also edited by her. Presently, she is snipping the Shah Rukh Khan starrer-'Fan'.
Adds the source, "As Yash Raj prefers to be guarded about its projects, details about Namrata's directorial debut are under wraps. An official announcement will be made only when everything is in place."
Namrata was not available for comment.
