Wishing the nation on its 62nd Republic Day, top Bollywood stars urged their fans to be proud of the country and explore the true spirit of patriotism


Actors Salman Khan and Vivek Oberoi, known for their philanthropic acts, said everyone should come forward and help the needy.

"Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes," Salman Khan posted on micro-blogging site Twitter Wednesday.


"Corruption hattao guys, we are all guilty of it. Lene waala bhi aur dene waala bhi (The one who takes as also the one who gives). Happy Republic Day," he added.


"We are one nation, with one vision and one identity, together we stand tall, together we stand united and together we are proud to be Indian! Happy Republic Day," Vivek Oberoi posted.

He added: "Express your true patriotism and what's in your heart, celebrate Republic Day in its true spirit. Go out there and find an Indian in need ufffdyou have the strength and power to help. Bring a smile to a person's face, make a difference, improve your India ufffdas Gandhiji said, be the change you want to see in the world. The future of this great nation lies in our hands."

"Happy Republic Day! May God Bless our land with greater resilience, peace and prosperity! And may we all respect it," Amitabh Bachchan posted.

"Freedom isn't selective, it is either complete, unfettered or it is not freedom. Celebrate your rights. Happy Republic day," Shilpa Shetty posted on Twitter.

Singer Asha Bhosle said the day's celebrations shouldn't be marred by the present political scenario.

"Today is a day of national pride. So, let's not speak of our present politicians. Jai Hind," she posted.

"Happy Republic Day my fellow Indians. May we always know that being an Indian is the best thing that happened to us. Jai Hind!," read Anupam Kher's post.

"Patriotism is not about going into a political war zone to commit an action that could potentially cause violence and conflict within Indians," said Pooja Bedi.
