Alia Bhatt recently shared that she’s been getting “creative” by making up fun, magical stories for her daughter Raha Kapoor. In a relaxed chat on the YouTube channel Ed-a-mamma Conscious Clothing with other moms, Alia talked about how she comes up with stories involving her husband, Ranbir Kapoor, and her sister, Shaheen Bhatt, because her daughter loves hearing about them. Alia Bhatt’s storytime with Raha involves Ranbir Kapoor and Shaheen During the chat, Alia Bhatt stated, "I am in that phase right now where I am currently making stories up for Raha where suddenly she will be like 'Mama, Mama tell me Papa's story,' then I'll make up a story about Ranbir, then tell me Tanna's story like she calls my sister Tanna so I'm literally making stories up that I'm really like becoming very creative." She added, "I'm saying random very like magical things and stuff like that, and then she immediately moves on in two lines to another story yeah, so it feels quite special to even like be a storyteller for your child." Alia Bhatt on claims of 'Botox gone wrong' Just recently, Alia Bhatt took to her Instagram stories to address netizens who claimed she had undergone a botched Botox procedure. In a long note, Alia also called out the internet for making exaggerated claims, including that she was “paralyzed on one side.” With her no-nonsense attitude, Alia gave trolls a piece of her mind through her story. The actress began her note by stating that she has “absolutely NO JUDGMENT towards anyone who chooses cosmetic corrections or surgery—it’s your body.” However, she expressed amazement at how random videos make big claims about what she supposedly did to her face and label it as “Botox gone wrong.” Alia Bhatt calls claims 'beyond ridiculous' Calling these claims “beyond ridiculous,” Alia wrote, “To the random video floating around literally claiming I've had Botox gone wrong (and to the numerous clickbait articles) - I have a 'crooked smile' and a 'weird way of speaking,' according to YOU. This is your hypercritical, microscopic judgment of a human face. And now you're confidently tossing around 'scientific' explanations, claiming I'm paralyzed on one side? Are you kidding me?” She continued, “These are SERIOUS claims being casually thrown out there with zero proof, no confirmation, and absolutely nothing to back it up. What's worse, you're influencing young, impressionable minds who might actually believe this garbage. Why are you saying this? For clickbait? Attention? Because none of it makes sense.”
30 October,2024 08:39 AM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentMeet the special mentor Last November, Hrithik Roshan was seen in a special appearance in Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 (2023). This November, the light-eyed superstar will shoot another cameo. This time around, Duggu will join Shiv Rawail’s Alpha, which stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari as the new female spies. Unlike the dark tones to his character Kabir Dhaliwal in Tiger 3, which was designed to announce War 2 as next edition of Aditya Chopra’s YRF spy universe, it is being said that he will play a mentor of sorts to Alia and Sharvari’s characters. Besides an adrenaline-pumping introductory scene, Duggu’s cameo will lead to a high-octane action set-piece with Alia and Sharvari. The superstar will undergo three-days prep before he begins his week-long schedule for Alpha on November 9. Within days of completing his special appearance, Duggu will shoot the climax of War 2 with Junior NTR. Director Ayan Mukerji’s action thriller, also starring Kiara Advani, is slated to arrive in cinemas on Independence Day next year, while Alpha is being readied for a Christmas 2025 release. New jodi alert Sreeleela’s loss has proved to be Pooja Hegde’s gain. The Radhe Shyam (2022) actor has been signed on as Varun Dhawan’s leading lady for his next, tentatively-titled Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. Helmed by David Dhawan, the rom-com marks the fourth collaboration between the veteran director and his actor-son. Mrunal Thakur, who plays the other lead, has shot some of her sequences with Varun. Next week, the team will head to Goa for the second spell of the shoot. Later in November, they will begin a month-long schedule on a set that will be built in Mehboob Studios. They are also planning an international schedule for early 2025. Cleared with a few modifications Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again has cleared the censor hurdle. The Central Board of Film Certification issued the Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Tiger Shroff and Jackie Shroff-starrer a U/A certificate with quite a few alterations. In two instances, the makers had to modify the visual depictions of Lord Ram, Sita and Hanuman with that of Ajay’s Singham, Kareena’s Avni and Ranveer’s Simmba. A 16-second visual of Raavan grabbing and pulling Sita in a drama scene, and a 29-second visual of Hanuman burning and a dialogue of Simmba flirting was removed. The visuals of the Constitutional head were deleted in two scenes and the dialogues were appropriately altered, while the colour of a religious flag and the use of Shiv Stotra in the background in another scene was appropriately modified. The Censor Board also reportedly asked the makers to redraft the disclaimer stating that the film is purely a work of fiction, and “Although the film is inspired by the story of Lord Ram, neither its narrative nor the characters should be viewed as revered deities…The story features contemporary characters of today...or societies, and their cultures, customs, practices, and traditions.” The final runtime of the Diwali release is two hours and 24 minutes. A unique comic caper Even though Siddhant Chaturvedi hasn’t struck gold with his theatrical outings, he continues to be offered interesting films. The actor has been signed on by producer Mahaveer Jain for a comedy to be helmed by ad filmmaker Ambar Chakravarty. The subject has two leading ladies opposite Siddhant. The makers are said to have approached Nora Fatehi and Sreeleela for the roles. While both the heroines have agreed in principle, the details are yet to be finalised. If all goes well, Ambar is slated to begin filming the yet-untitled comic caper in the first quarter of 2025. Backing a novel cause Akshay Kumar is batting for a unique initiative this festive season. He is said to have pledged R1 crore to Anjaneya Sewa Trust to feed the monkeys in Ayodhya every day, to celebrate the legacy of Hanuman’s brave army in Lord Ram’s war against the demon king Raavan. When approached by the trust for this cause, Akki responded by contributing generously. The Khel Khel Mein actor dedicated the initiative to his parents, Hari Om and Aruna Bhatia, as well as his father-in-law, late superstar Rajesh Khanna. Holidaying together? It appears that Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor have taken off for a holiday along with rumoured beaus Shikhar Pahariya and Vedang Raina respectively. While neither of them have shared any pictures together, their individual posts indicate that they are all vacationing saath-saath. On Monday, the Kapoor sisters shared a picture by the beach and a funny video on their social media as they recreated Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian’s lines from their reality show. Yesterday, Khushi’s The Archies (2023) co-actor Vedang also posted a series of images from his beach holiday. Soon enough, his post was flooded with comments. “Khushi Kapoor takes good pictures,” wrote a netizen, while another observed, “Together on a trip, Janhvi, Khushi and Vedang. He posts morning pictures and they posts evenings.” Yet another follower replied, “All four of you are in the Maldivess... Beachy guys.”
30 October,2024 07:13 AM IST | Mumbai | The Hitlist TeamThere have been enough fireworks even before the two Diwali releases have hit the theatres, with the makers of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 filing a complaint with the Competition Commission of India (CCI), alleging that Singham Again’s makers are employing unfair practices in screen allocation. Even as the fight for screens is ongoing, the advance booking for the two movies finally opened, albeit in select theatres. So, who is emerging as the winner in this box-office clash between Ajay Devgn’s super cop and Kartik Aaryan’s ghostbuster? Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which began ticket sales on Monday, had garnered about Rs 12.83 lakh in advance collections by Tuesday afternoon. With Singham Again’s advance booking starting only on Tuesday morning, it had earned Rs 11.72 lakh by afternoon. Director Rohit Shetty’s cop actioner—with an all-star cast of Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and Tiger Shroff—however, has a slight edge over the horror comedy as it is poised to capture a larger screen share. Trade analyst Girish Wankhede says that PVR-Inox being the distributor of Singham Again has given it a strong start. “PVR-Inox wants to allocate around 60 per cent of screen time to Singham Again. That means if a screen has five shows, three would go to Singham Again and two to Bhool Bhulaiyaa. This tussle delayed advance bookings, and in such cases, audiences tend to gravitate towards the bigger release. Anil Thadani, who is distributing Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, is insisting that the screen sharing be made equal. It is currently divided at a 55-45 ratio. Still, both films should do well, as Diwali’s holiday spirit boosts spending power. We are expecting a R40-crore opening for Singham Again, and Rs 25-30 crore for the horror comedy. But if the latter is a better film, the dynamics could change.” Manoj Desai, executive director, Gaiety-Galaxy, says the clash has harmed exhibitors as they have been barred from opening advance bookings until the screen allocation is finalised. At present, Singham Again’s bookings have been opened at only a few PVR properties, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa’s at certain single-screens. “This is Diwali time, and we aren’t allowed to start advance bookings because they can’t sort out their differences. This is damaging to us,” rues Desai. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh backs Desai, noting that the films are only two days away from release. “Pune exhibitors are telling me that the advance bookings haven’t started for their city. The lion’s share of theatres remain undecided on which film they are screening or which film gets more screens. Diwali is a lucrative time for the industry. These movies have to work, but both parties are prioritising personal egos. Eating each other’s business will only damage the industry.” Rs 30 crProjected opening of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3
30 October,2024 06:10 AM IST | Mumbai | Mohar BasuA sports presenter in Double XL (2022), a politician in Maharani, and a chef in Tarla (2023). Glance through Huma Qureshi’s recent work and you’ll notice that her characters’ professions are at the centre of the stories. It stands true for her upcoming projects too. While in Gulabi, she plays a rickshaw driver, she is a detective in director Bikas Mishra’s thriller Bayaan. “I fight for my characters to have identity, I demand it,” she says when we mention this to her. Portraying a role that is designed to further the male protagonist’s track is of little interest to her. Instead, Qureshi will consciously pick characters whose lives are separate from the men in the stories. A case in point being Mithya, in which she essays a professor. “It’s a conscious choice. For instance, in the first season, my character has a months-old son and she has written a book. In a scene, she is supposed to deliver a speech about the book. The lines that came to me made me upset. [They conveyed] how happy she is that she has written this book for her son. I told the writer, ‘If a man wrote this book, he would not attribute it to his children; he’d talk about what the book meant to him. But the moment you have even a month-old baby, everything becomes about the child for a woman. That’s the lens we put on women all the time. I resent that.’ The writer agreed it was a collective mistake and should be rectified.” As she awaits the second season of the ZEE5 series, the actor says that while choosing projects, her criteria are clear. To her, screen time doesn’t matter. “I always look for parts that have agency. Length doesn’t matter.” Qureshi has applied this mantra throughout her 12-year career. So much so that she turned down an opportunity to work with a filmmaker she admired, as the female character in the movie was depicted as a damsel in distress. She recounts, “This film was with a big star. But there was a scene where the goons are beating up the hero, while I am crying and asking them to spare him. I told the director, ‘I want to work with you and the hero. But this is bad casting! If I’m in that scene, I will dole out one or two punches to the goons.’ The director laughed and said we’ll work on something else.’”

29 October,2024 09:55 PM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentRohit Shetty is gearing up for his upcoming Diwali release with Singham Again; however, the film has encountered a hurdle with the CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification). It is reported that Rohit Shetty's action drama had to undergo several cuts, including Simmba aka Ranveer Singh's flirting scene and some references to the 'Ramayana'. Reportedly, Shetty had to remove about 7.12 minutes of footage from the film.
