Ayushmann Khurrana's same-sex romance Shubh Mangal earns Rs 20 crore, Vicky Kaushal's horror outing Bhoot - Part One: The Haunted Ship plays catch-up
Vicky Kaushal and Ayushmann Khurrana
With the two-day collection of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan reading an admirable Rs 20.63 crore, trade analysts are hailing it as a victory for content-led films in Bollywood. Trade pundit Taran Adarsh says, "The collections are a tad less than that of Ayushmann Khurrana's last two films, DreamGirl and Bala. But for a film with a sensitive subject, this is a big triumph. According to estimates, the film's first-weekend figure should close at Rs 34 crore."

The comedy hit theatres alongside Vicky Kaushal's Bhoot — Part One: The Haunted Ship, which earned Rs 10.62 crore over two days. "Even though it's Vicky's next after [the successful] Uri [The Surgical Strike, 2019], it's a horror film, [and hence, niche]." Though Bhoot has received fairly positive reviews, trade analyst Komal Nahta reasons, "There's no music in the film, and the second half has not been liked. Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan has got mixed reports, so one can't gauge how it will hold in the coming days."
