Alia Bhatt charged 3 times more than Jigra’s opening day collection at BO

Bollywood superstar and National Award-winner Alia Bhatt, whose latest film ‘Jigra’ courted controversy has reportedly charged a whopping amount to star in it. Alia, who has proven her acting mettle with films like ‘Highway’, ‘Darlings’, and ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ among others, received mixed reactions for her latest release. That being said, she did make money on her part as an actor even though the film didn’t do well at the box office.  How much did Alia Bhatt charge for ‘Jigra’? According to reports, Alia Bhatt charged Rs 10-15 crore for the film. This is three times more than what the film made on its opening day at the box office. The film, which is helmed by Vasan Bala, raked in Rs 4.55 crore on the opening day in India. Despite Alia’s star power, her film did not manage to garner huge footfall on the release day. Controversies surrounding ‘Jigra’ Actor-filmmaker Divya Khossla called out Bhatt and the film’s team for giving fake box office numbers despite empty theatres. This led to cryptic social media posts by Karan Johar who produced the film and Divya, who also hit back. Not just this, Bijou Thaangjam, an actor from Manipur, slammed the makers for discrimination after stalling him for months in the hopes of a role and then going MIA.  Earlier, Vasan Bala made headlines after he said in a lighter note that he wrote a very premature email (about the creative process) to KJo about the idea of 'Jigra'. The latter forwarded the email to Alia, which Vasan said in jest, that he didn’t like because the email had hygiene issues and grammatical errors. Vasan’s seemingly humorous statement was blown out of proportion by the people on the Internet, and in no time KJo started receiving brickbats for simply forwarding an email. Karan cleared the air and said, “So, I was flooded with Vasan Bala’s interview which he answered with pure innocence and so much love, the gore misinterpretation of his comment about me sending the script to Alia without his grammar checks made me laugh initially at the ludicrousness of it all but now is truly annoying me.” “Vasan continues to be one of my most talented and wonderful collaborators and if you see his interview and hear his tone you will totally get it! BUT NO … much ado about nothing is all over the place…I fold my hands and tell everyone please hear and read entire interviews before making clickbait assumptions. Loads of Love to all of you”, he added. ‘Jigra’ was released on October 11 in theatres.

His murder came as a shock to Khan, who was seen in tears at Siddique's residence on Sunday. Bishnoi and Khan's feud goes back to the early 2000s when the superstar was involved in a blackbuck shooting case in Rajasthan. While Salman Khan spent a week in jail for the crime, the Bishnoi community, who consider blackbucks sacred, have been targeting the actor ever since, issuing death threats.

Did you know? Pulkit Samrat & Shah Rukh Khan once planned to work on Fauji 2

The cult show 'Fauji' starring Shah Rukh Khan is getting a reboot with Vikas Jain and Gauahar Khan as the main leads. This news of the rework came yesterday, however, a report suggests that it was Pulkit Samrat who was earlier in discussion to play the lead in the show. The report claimed that Samrat was in talks to play the role of Shah Rukh Khan's son, but this was not when Sandeep Singh was in the picture; it was back when Red Chillies Entertainment was planning to produce the sequel of Shah Rukh Khan's cult show. Pulkit Samrat was in discussion for 'Fauji 2'? If the report from 'India Today' is to be believed, before filmmaker Sandeep Singh came into the picture and announced Vikas Jain and Gauahar Khan as the leads, discussions around the sequel were in play, and Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies Entertainment was planning to back the project. 'Fauji 2' was earlier a grand project, with reports of Shah Rukh Khan planning to reprise his memorable role of Lt. Abhimanyu Rai, and Pulkit Samrat playing his son. For the female lead, they had signed 'Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke' fame Roopal Tyagi. Though the show never took off, even after Pulkit and Shah Rukh started the shoot, Samrat discussed it with 'India Today' and shared, "Just imagine, a guy from Delhi, who has come to Mumbai following SRK’s footsteps, gets a chance to play his on-screen son in a show produced by Red Chillies! I was lucky enough to shoot with him, and he was extremely kind, and extremely humble. He shared his trade secrets with me. He taught me how to own a set and how to use the space around you as an actor. His kind words and his warmth still stay with me. Sadly, the show never took off." About 'Fauji 2' Produced by Sandeep Singh and co-produced by Vikas Jain and Zafar Mehdi, 'Fauji 2' marks the series debut of film director Abhinav Pareek, who earlier directed 'Sab Moh Maaya Hai' and 'A Wedding Story'. The show will air on Doordarshan and will be broadcast in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Bengali. In 'Fauji 2', Sandeep Singh shall be introducing Vikas Jain to mainstream television. Vikas, previously known for his appearances in 'Bigg Boss 17' with wife Ankita Lokhande, will portray Colonel Sanjay Singh. Gauahar Khan will take on the role of Lieutenant Colonel Simarjeet Kaur, a cadet trainer specializing in weaponry.

Divya Khossla

Divya Khosla questions Karan Johar over use of 'derogatory language'

Actor Divya Khosla has stirred up controversy with her Instagram Story criticizing Alia Bhatt’s new film Jigra and openly feuding with co-producer Karan Johar. In response to her claims, Johar posted on his social media, saying, "Silence is the best speech you will ever give to fools." After which Divya quickly fired back with another story alluding to KJO being the fool for opposing the truth. Phew! And the Divya Khosla-Karan Johar feud goes on... In an interview with Hindustan Times, Divya stated, “Today, when I speak up, Mr Karan Johar uses derogatory language to shut me down. Is it right to call a woman a fool for pointing out unethical practices? If this happens to me, what about those new to the industry? No one is a king here, and I won’t be treated like a subject. There are many more derogatory words which were used in their PR articles, and called my taking a stand as a PR stunt. I'm sorry, I don't need one. I'm already well known.” Divya Khosla’s first post took aim at Alia Bhatt, accusing her of gaining from fake ticket sales. She said, “Alia doesn’t need to resort to such tactics; she’s already well-established. But true heroism is in speaking against wrongdoing. Let the audience decide based on merit, not money and power.” What Divya Khosla said about ‘Jigra’  Divya, took to her Instagram Stories to slam the 'Highway' actor, sharing a picture of an empty theatre and criticizing the film's reported earnings. In her post, she wrote, “Went to Citi Mall PVR for Jigra show. Theatre was totally empty…all theaters going empty everywhere.” "#Aliabhatt me sach mein Bahut #Jigra hai.. khud hi tickets karide aur fake collections announce kar diye. Wonder why paid media is silent. #weshdnotfooltheaudience #truthoverlies #HappyDussehra," she added. For those unversed, Divya Khossla's film 'Savi' shows her character navigating a complex and high-risk situation to save her wrongfully imprisoned husband. This is a similar plotline to 'Jigra' but with a different relationship as its crux.  Karan Johar seemingly responds to Divya Karan shared a post on his Instagram stories which read, “Silence is the best speech you will ever give to fools.” Divya also shared a post on her stories which read, “Truth will always offend fools opposed to it.” “When you are shamelessly accustomed to stealing what rightfully belongs to others, you will always seek shelter in silence. You will have no voice no spine,” she added in a subsequent post.  About Alia Bhatt's Jigra ‘Jigra' revolves around a devoted sister who embarks on a harrowing journey to rescue her brother. A recreated version of the classic song 'Phoolon Ka Taaro Ka' is also included in the teaser, showcasing Vedang Raina's vocal talent. Produced under the banner of Dharma Productions and presented by Viacom18 Studios and Eternal Sunshine Productions, 'Jigra' is co-written by Debashish Irengbam and Vasan Bala.
