Nikul Desai who is known for his feats as director, creative producer, and content head - has carved a niche for himself in the entertainment industry. The 36-year-old creative maestro will complete 22-years in the media industry this month. In a career spanning over two decades, Nikul Desai has added a plethora of feathers to his cap. Many of you might not recognize him, but he is the ‘innovative mind’ behind the camera offering his excellent directorial skills to non-fictional shows like Comedy Circus, Rising Star, Tare Zameen Par and his latest show Good Night India.

Nikul started his career under the supervision of Vipul D Shah, founder of Optimystix Entertainment. Lynching on every opportunity he received, he ventured as an assistant director in 2001 via Optimystix Entertainment. Later, he was awarded the opportunity to work as the existing director of a now-popular show.
Reminiscing of his journey so far, Nikul revealed that he was “granted the opportunity to grace the director’s chair as the existing director of Comedy circus after he fell ill, and that's how he got his first break as a full-time television director” - under such unusual circumstances. However, he managed to do it all.
Desai’s success is a quintessential story of rags to riches, and it's worth pointing out that the 36-year-old innovative young mind had to hustle every day to achieve those great milestones in his journey.
Having tasted success with the popularity of ‘Comedy Circus’, which ran non stop for over nine years, Nikul is credited with introducing clutter-breaking and crisp new content to the television industry, which feels nothing short of fresh and delightful breath.
To note, Nikul has also worked as a creative producer and he is the only one who has offered India the most numbers of daily non-fiction shows which continue to be consumed by the audience with much passion and zest.
India is a diverse land, and similarly, it's always worth considering that there’s an audience, open to consuming any type of content. Nikul managed to understand the same and he was able to capitalize the market through his skills to direct non-fictional shows. Talking about the same, Nikul contended that whether it is fiction or non-fiction, great storytelling is key and it always works.
Directorial excellence comes through artistic vision and storytelling and Nikul believes that the latter is still intact. While many might worry about the decline in quality of the shows in near future, Nikul has tried his best to maintain the already set bar.
Speaking of guiding the Indian Television content to the great pinnacle, Nikul said, “I promise to set the Indian television content to great heights. I believe there are endless possibilities to be discovered and I strongly plan on exploring these boundaries as a director and producer as well.”
Nikul, during a recent interaction, revealed that “having worked in the industry for the last 22-years, I’ve learned a lot and I am blessed have worked with talented actors like Kapil Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh, Farah Khan, Rohit Shetty, Shankar Mahadevan and more.”
Currently, Nikul Desai is directing the on-going daily non fiction show on Sab TV titled - ‘Good Night India’ which is being well appreciated for its content.
