Mid - Day Maharashtra Gaurav Award, was on 9th of February, bestowed upon former Assistant Commissioner of Mumbai Customs and GST, Shri Deepak Pandit by the honourable Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. The award was given in the presence of guest of honour Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis.

This award is a Special Felicitation Ceremony where mid-day honours the outstanding work of citizens across different walks of life. Its all about celebrating their spirit of success, innovation and excellence together. Hence, Mr. Pandit’s fearless attitude towards his duty during his days at the Mumbai Customs not only earned him many accolades but were worthy of honour by the Governor in the form of an award. The Mumbai customs department is a rather untapped territory, of which, not a lot is known to laymen. But according to Mr. Pandit, this department holds a lot of power and responsibility. What officers need to do is exercise their powers rightfully and safeguard the nation’s interests, said the daredevil officer.

Mr. Pandit, known these days as White Singham, seemed quite elated on receiving the award. “I genuinely expected nothing when I was performing my duties with complete honesty. I will just say that this award is a motivation for other officers too, to perform their duties with complete honesty”, said the former Ranji trophy all rounder.
Along with Mr. Pandit, few eminent personalities from varied fields, who contributed phenomenally in their respective domains were also awarded.
Recently, on Wild Buffaloes Entertainment’s YouTube channel, a trailer was released, announcing a book being written on the life of Mr. Pandit. The biography, titled White - The Beyond The Uniform, is an initiative by authors Sheetal Bhan and Aamir Bengali. The book is underway and will be out soon.
