The multi-designer menswear destination opens its second store in Kalaghoda

Curato has become synonymous with Indian menswear and continues to lead in curating styles from India’s finest fashion designers and labels all under one roof. Helmed by Tanisha Rahimtoola Agarwal, the curated menswear platform provides the best of Indian fashion represented in a contemporary and aesthetic way.

To new beginning

Since its inception in 2018, Curato aimed to build a multi-locational retail business across Mumbai and further expand it across India. As Mumbai’s first-ever multi-designer menswear store, Curato is home to over 60 designers spanning all categories and occasions. After successfully discovering and nurturing Indian designers and craftsmanship at its flagship store in Bandra, Curato has embarked on an exciting new journey with its second multi-designer store in Kala Ghoda, Fort. The new store was unveiled by Bhumi Pednekar. Different in principle, the two stores exude a personality of their own and cater to a different audience, as one is located in a quaint neighborhood in Bandra and the other is situated on a buzzing street in Kalaghoda.  Leading the way one exclusive store at a time, Tanisha Rahimtoola Agarwal says, “Curators' journey from the outset was aimed to build a successful business as well as give young passionate designers a platform to exhibit and generate revenue for their designs. Today, we proudly showcase a lot of fun, edgy designs from designers all over the country who want to express themselves, buyers looking for an experienced and strong curation that doesn’t exist anywhere else in the country.”

The story behind Curato’s success has been driven by giving designers a platform to exhibit their work. Spread across 600 square feet, the new state-of-art store will see a blend of conventional and experimental styles showcased by young and established designers such as Kanika Goyal, Antar Agni, Dhruv Kapoor, Payal Singhal, Rimzim Dadu, and Rajesh Pratap Singh among others.

The New-Age Man

Curato has always aimed to disrupt the illusion that men aren’t conscious of fashion. As the founder, Tanish is constantly on the lookout for designers who are willing to go beyond trends and work toward what’s next. “The impact of cultures across the globe has definitely seen an increase in demand for eclectic menswear styles. For men, personal comfort is of utmost importance. So, at Curato we focus on really understanding their personal style and then curate a selection of styles from that,” adds Tanisha.

Gender Bender

In spite of being a menswear store, Curato has also attracted women shoppers. According to Tanisha, the store has been a hot spot for women who love trying on oversized blazers, bomber jackets, asymmetrical kurtas etc. So does Curato have a dedicated section for gender-fluid clothing? “To me, fashion as a whole can be gender-neutral. Someone walking into Curato can buy anything from any part of the store if it resonates with them. At the store, we have silhouettes that are comfortable and do not conform to any stereotypical statements of fashion. I believe it’s one’s freedom of choice and one should only wear what they are most comfortable in,” says Tanisha.
