Isha Foundation row: Why is Sadhguru's Isha Foundation under radar?

On October 18, Advocate M. Purushottam addressed the controversy surrounding the Isha Foundation, founded by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, following the Supreme Court`s dismissal of a Habeas Corpus petition. The petition, filed by Dr. S. Kamaraj, claimed that his two daughters, Geetha and Latha, were being held captive at the foundation in Coimbatore. Purushottam emphasized the legal implications of such allegations and the importance of ensuring personal freedoms. The court`s decision reflected a lack of sufficient evidence to substantiate claims of captivity. This case has sparked discussions about the rights of individuals within spiritual organizations and the responsibility of such institutions to address concerns raised by families while maintaining their autonomy.... Yahya Sinwar, a key figure behind the October 7 attack on Israel, was killed on October 17. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops were not specifically looking for him during their operations in Gaza. Why is there a surge in Punjab-Canada student student migration? Expert explains

Why is there a surge in Punjab-Canada student student migration? Expert explains

In the wake of the India-Canada diplomatic crisis, Canadian National Security Expert Joe Adam George highlighted a troubling rise in fake asylum claims. In the first eight months of 2024 alone, Canada recorded 13,000 international students seeking asylum, with a significant number reportedly from Punjab, India. Many claim persecution for supporting the Khalistan movement, a narrative George suggests may not reflect the truth. He argues that this influx indicates an abuse of Canada`s asylum and immigration system, prompting the Canadian government to recognize and respond to the issue, albeit belatedly. The situation underscores the complexities and challenges within Canada’s immigration policies, particularly amid geopolitical tensions. As the government moves to address these concerns, the integrity of its asylum process hangs in the balance.... [Read More]

Toxic foam floats in Yamuna, Kejriwal's last year promise goes viral

Toxic foam floats in Yamuna, Kejriwal's last year promise goes viral

On October 18, Delhi faced rising air pollution, and toxic foam was spotted floating on the Yamuna River in Kalindi Kunj. This situation raised health concerns among residents. Last year, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal promised to clean the Yamuna River before the 2025 Delhi assembly elections. However, with the elections approaching, the current state of the river suggests that this promise remains unfulfilled. The contrast between Kejriwal`s assurances and the reality of the polluted river has sparked discussions among the people of Delhi, who are worried about both air quality and the condition of their rivers. As the elections get closer, many are questioning the government`s efforts to tackle these environmental issues.  ... [Read More]

WR opens temporary foot over bridge at Mumbai Central station in just 6 months

WR opens temporary foot over bridge at Mumbai Central station in just 6 months

A temporary lightweight steel foot over bridge has been built at Mumbai Central station to improve east-west connectivity after the Bellasis bridge was closed in June 2024. The old structure which was built in 1893 and had exceeded its expected lifespan of 100 years,  was declared dangerous as it was not in a good condition and had surpassed its expected lifespan. Commuters had been facing difficulties due to the bridge`s closure, which affected their daily travel. The new foot over bridge which includes plans for escalators, was completed in just six months which indeed is a remarkable achievement. This bridge marks a significant step for Mumbai, as it is the first of its kind built temporarily in response to a need for better pedestrian access. The Flyover bridge connects the station’s eastern side with the western side, allowing passengers to cross over the railway lines easily. It starts from the station approaching outside the ticket area and ends at JBB Road in Tardeo. The construction process was efficient. Workers fabricated the steel girders and columns at the same time as they dug the foundations, which sped up the project. The steel columns were erected in just two days, and it took four days to set up the cross girders. Thanks to prior trials, the assembly at the site took only three days, and the entire bridge was put up in a single day using a large crane. Instead of traditional reinforced concrete, the deck is made from a chequered plate, which saves a lot of time. This choice avoided the lengthy process of reinforcement and curing that concrete requires. The side railings and deck plate were installed at the same time, and the staircase was prefabricated to further speed up the work. Lighting was installed in just one day. ... [Read More]

Demonstrators chanted slogans in support of Hamas, with some waving Jordanian and Palestinian flags. Protester Abdel Rahim Sorour emphasized Hamas` resilience, asserting that the organization would remain strong regardless of Sinwar`s death.
