Self-taught baker Nolencia Periera, inspired by her relatives abroad who'd get her traditional English sweets, has put together an Xmas menu, which includes Marzipan Snowflakes and Fudge Brownies. "When we stir in the Christmas pudding, my little ones and I make a wish every year. It's a labour of love," says Periera.

Passionate baker Bonnie D'silva started her Parisian style Bonnie's bakery in Mulund in 2012. For Christmas they have Plum Cakes and Marzipan Plum Cake Sandwich, Almond Horns, Chocolate Plum Bars, Cranberry-Apricot Lollipops. You could make a cheery hamper out of these goodies.

This small-scale family business makes and sells authentic Goan preserved foods, and masalas with the aim of bringing the taste of traditional Goa to households in India. Chef Shweta Katiyar gets nostalgic this time of year. "Christmas for me will always be about foggy, winter mornings, going to school in ‘fancy dress' and eating Plum Cake after the Christmas programme," she says. For over 20 years, Valerie Bahuguna has been making traditional Christmas and Easter goodies; her rich Xmas cake is full of flavour and punch. "The fruits for the cake are soaked and kept for almost a whole year. The guava cheese has the right bite to it and just the right texture. Most of our sweets are made with minimum sugar.
