Russian second seed Daniil Medvedev reached the Wimbledon Last-32 for the third time with a straight sets win over Spanish wildcard Carlos Alcaraz on Thursday. Medvedev, fresh from his first grass court title in Mallorca last weekend, eased to a 6-4, 6-1, 6-2 over Alcaraz, 18, the youngest player in the draw.
Andy Murray battled back from a two sets to one deficit to defeat German qualifier Oscar Otte and reach the third round on Wednesday.
Former No. 1 Murray triumphed 6-3, 4-6, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 over the 151st-ranked Otte under the roof of Centre Court. The British star, playing in the singles event for the first time since 2017 and ranked a lowly 118 after a battle against hip and groin injuries, avoided what would have been his earliest exit from the tournament. "What an atmosphere to play in at the end," said Murray.
Meanwhile, fourth-seeded Alexander Zverev hit 13 aces, lost only 12 points on his serve and advanced to the third round by beating Tennys Sandgren 7-5, 6-2, 6-3.
