Despite suffering from viral fever for the past two days, Pallavi Shelar was able to bring out her A game and helped St Elias High School (Khar) beat defending champions Mary Immaculate Girls High School (Borivli) 4-0 in the final of the Mumbai School Sports Association (MSSA)-organised Ahmed Sailor under-16 girls hockey tournament at Sports Authority of India (SAI) ground, Kandivli yesterday.

Pallavi, who missed most of the group games due to her illness and played only for five minutes in the semi-finals. She and her cousin Sneha scored one goal apiece. Pallavi scored in the 13th minute. Saradha Haldankar then netted the ball in the 23rd minute. After the break, Madhavi Mhatre scored the third goal for the Khar school in the 37th minute. Captain Sneha then rounded off the win in the 46th minute. Pallavi felt it was tough to play as her stamina had dipped due to fever. "It was tough, but I did not give up," she said. Talking about her equation with Sneha, Pallavi added: "Sneha and me have been playing together since the fifth standard. We keep supporting each other. Whenever I get hit or fall, she cries."
