Caroline Wozniacki moved a step closer to retaining her Toray Pan Pacific Open title with a semi-final demolition of World No. 1 Garbine Muguruza here on Saturday.

The Dane, who won the title in 2016 and also 2010, put the Spaniard to the sword with a ruthless 6-2, 6-0 victory.

It earned her a seventh final of an excellent year, though the World No. 6 has yet to get silverware in her hands.

If that is to change she will have to beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who booked her third final of the year by ending Angelique Kerber's resurgence. Kerber has had a dreadful year following a stellar 2016 but was looking good in Japan until her meeting with the Russian, who triumphed 6-0 6-7 (4/7), 6-4.
