Sports Minister Ajay Maken yesterday said he will personally try and convince FIH boss Leandro Negre to reverse his decision of taking away the Champions Trophy from India


Sports Minister Ajay Maken yesterday said he will personally try and convince FIH boss Leandro Negre to reverse his decision of taking away the Champions Trophy from India.

Maken is scheduled to meet Negre on September . "I will try to ensure that the major hockey tournaments allotted to India remain with us," Maken told reporters here yesterday.

He further said that he would also try to bring together the two warring federationsu00a0-- Hockey India (HI) and Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) before he speaks to Negre.

"I will be meeting representatives of the Indian Olympic Association, HI and IHF before meeting Negre.

"I would like all the bodies to speak on the same wavelength in front of Negre. This is in the larger interest of the game and the country," he added.
