SMT RSB Arya Vidya Mandir (Juhu) registered a 2-0 win over Arya Vidya Mandir (Bandra) to enter the quarter-finals of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association boys U-16 Division III at Azad Maidan

SMT RSB Arya Vidya Mandir (Juhu) registered a 2-0 win over Arya Vidya Mandir (Bandra) to enter the quarter-finals of the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA) boys U-16 Division III at Azad Maidan yesterday.

After a goalless first half, the Juhu outfit's Ishan Vijay opened the scoring via a solo effort in the 38th minute. The Bandra school's strikers tried hard to restore parity, but were unable to break down the Juhu school's defence.

The RSB AVM boys effectively killed off that match in the 42nd minute when midfielder Atharva Wagle tapped in the ball to double their lead. In the quarter-final, the Juhu school will take on St Paul's School (Dadar) tomorrow.

"Last year, we had lost in the quarter-final. But this year our team is a much-balanced side," said 15-year-old Ishan.

Meanwhile, Atharva wants his team to earn a promotion to Division II. "Our school team was promoted to Division III in 2012. It is my wish that we help our team earn promotion to Division II before passing out of school," said Atharva.
