Riding on some confident performances from their talented players, Bombay Presidency Golf Club (BPGC), who have earned a reputation of being difficult to beat on their home course, crowned themselves the champion golf club of Western India, lifting the Grover Zampa Vineyards Inter-Club Golf Championship at the conclusion of the two-day Championship.
BPGC , who led overnight by 2 ½ points over Willingdon Sports Club, extended it to 3 ½ points at the end of the second day, to finish with 32 ½ points and inscribe their name on this prestigious trophy for the sixth time in its 18-year history.
Willingdon Sports Club finished second with 29 points, while United Sports Club finished third with 23 ½.
It was again the 14-year-old Ananya Datar who came good for BPGC Club on the second day. Having won her singles match on the first day, she paired with Kabir Kewalramani yesterday to win the Fourballs also. Also contributing to BPGC's win were Subhash Naidu, Rishi Bali, Rani Maheshwari and Nakul Bakshi, who won their Foursomes yesterday.
