Mumbai: It's horses for causes or, to be exact, just one particular cause at the Mahalaxmi racecourse on Sunday. The SC Jain Sprinters' Cup is the feature race of the afternoon, which is a mix of racing and the continuation of the Royal Western India Turf Club's (RWITC) Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The day will see a blend of creativity, competition and compassion as the races also have a charity angle to them. The club has tied up with the Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) called Passages, whose objective is breast cancer awareness and treatment.
The idea is to raise funds through the raffle and sale of 15 heard turning horse head sculptures which will be displayed on the lawns opposite the paddock. This range of hand painted sculptures is called 'Pink Filly'.
Some of the artists whose work is up for sale or raffle are: Paresh Maity, Arzaan Khambatta, Jaideep Mehrotra and Brinda Miller.
