The 2024 edition of the money-rich Indian Premier League is just a few months away. Here are the four IPL legends who were replaced by other players for the captaincy spot

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has recently been replaced by Hardik Pandya for Mumbai Indians' captaincy. Previously, Pandya captained Gujarat Titans in the IPL for two years out of which the team won the title in 2022. Mumbai Indians won five IPL titles and one Champions League title under Rohit Sharma's captaincy. He is one of the most successful captains in IPL history

MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni was replaced by Steve Smith for the captaincy of Rising Pune Supergiants in the year 2017. The team did not taste much success under Dhoni's captaincy during the 2016 edition of the IPL. In the 2017 edition of the money-rich league, Steve Smith captained RPS and led them to the finals where they lost to Mumbai Indians

Ravindra Jadeja

MS Dhoni stepped down from the captaincy of Chennai Super Kings before the year 2022. Ravindra Jadeja was handed over the captaincy for CSK. But the team managed to secure wins in just two matches out of eight games. The team was about to get eliminated, but MS Dhoni made his comeback for the captaincy. Jadeja continued to play under Dhoni's leadership

Ajinkya Rahane

In IPL 2019. Ajinkya Rahane was replaced by Steve Smith as captain of Rajasthan Royals. Later on, Steve Smith left India to prepare for the World Cup. Rahane was again named as captain of RR. After the 2019 season, Rahane was traded to Delhi Capitals and is currently playing for Chennai Super Kings
