Ravindra Jadeja breaks Ravichandran Ashwin's record of fewest overs by an Indian bowler in a Test seven-for

The lanky all-rounder Jadeja wreaked havoc on the Australian top-order, producing a magnificent spell in 12.1 overs. In the process, he has broken compatriot Ashwin’s record for the fewest overs bowled by an Indian in seven-for in a Test innings. Ashwin, on the other hand, bowled 13.5 overs in his spell of 7-59 against Kiwis in 2016, while Jadeja surpassed him with a seven-for in 12.1 overs.

Ashwin, one of India’s most revered spinners, is famously known for sending down deliveries magical to the extent of tormenting the opposition batsmen. His skillful offbreaks and unplayable carrom balls have seen him dominate the mightiest of world’s best batsmen. On Sunday, he dismissed Smith for a second time, and in the process, he now boasts of most dismissals against the former Australian captain in Tests among spinners.

As India had a tricky chase before them amid the turning conditions in the pitch, it was skipper Rohit Sharma who spearheaded India’s charge against the Aussies. He scored 31 off 20 balls in total, amd he now has the highest strike rate in a fourth-innings knock by an Indian Test captain.

Virat Kohli surpasses Sachin Tendulkar's record of fewest games to 25,000 international runs

India’s batting maestro Kohli scored 20 off 31 in India's second innings before young Todd Murphy dismissed him stumped out in what was perceived as a controversial dismissal. Even though he could not manage a big score in his home match, Kohli went past the legendary Sachin Tendulkar after he completed 25,000 runs in international circuit, becoming the fastest player to do so. Kohli, meanwhile, achieved this feat in 549th innings, while Tendulkar did so in 577th innings.

Australia scripts forgettable record of having lost more Tests against India than any other team

England previously held the record for most Test defeats against India, before Australia overtook the English side to lose against India for a record 32nd time.
