India opener Rohit Sharma and pacer Shardul Thakur spent time with their Mumbai probables on Sunday evening. Though, both Rohit and Thakur are currently in Chester-le-Street, preparing for the upcoming Test series against England, they passed on words of wisdom to aspiring Mumbai cricketers during a virtual meeting.
India's white-ball cricket specialist batsman Shreyas Iyer, who is recovering from his shoulder injury, also attended the online meeting.
It is learnt that out of 45, most of the players selected for the fitness camp were present during this inaugural virtual meeting in which players were guided on the road ahead for the 2021-22 season.

"We need to win the Ranji Trophy, but at the same time, more Mumbai players should play at the international level. Currently, six Mumbai players are representing the country - in England and Sri Lanka. The more we win trophies, more of our players will play at the international level," Rohit said in the meeting, according to a source.
It is learnt that Thakur, during his pep talk, highlighted the importance of Mumbai's dressing room legacy and how the team should continue last season's Vijay Hazare Trophy-winning momentum.
Former Mumbai captain and new head coach Amol Muzumdar, meanwhile, emphasised the importance of discipline, hard work and teamwork.
