IPL 2021: 'Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan have relaxed after getting the India cap,' says Sunil Gavaskar

Mumbai Indians batsmen Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have been among the top performers for the IPL franchise in the past season. During IPL 2020, Ishan Kishan scored 516 runs from 14 games which included 4 fifties. SK Yadav scored 480 runs from 16 matches with 4 fifties as well, at the IPL 2020 season.

This time around at the IPL 2021, Ishan Kishan has managed 157 runs from 9 matches with a single fifty. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav has scored 235 runs in 13 games with a single fifty.

Speaking exclusively on Star Sports show Cricket Connected, Team India batting legend Sunil Gavaskar talks about why Mumbai Indians players might be out of form. "I think it looks to me like, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan have just relaxed a little bit after getting the India cap. They might not have, but some of the shots they are playing - it looks like they are trying to play these big shots just because they are India players. Sometimes what happens is, you gotta give yourself a little bit of time, and you gotta get your shot selection right. And I think that is where they have missed this time around, where their shot selection has not been exactly correct, and that's why they've got out cheaply. Hardik Pandya, not bowling is a big blow, not just for Mumbai Indians, but for India as well, because he was taken in the team as an all-rounder. And if you are in the team, batting at No.6 or No.7, and you're not able to bowl, then it makes it difficult for the captain. He doesn't get the flexibility and option, that is so required for somebody batting at No.6 or 7 like an all-rounder," said Sunil Gavaskar.

Former Team India pacer Ajit Agarkar shares his views on why the management should not make any changes to Team India's ICC Men's T20 World Cup squad. "In my opinion, once you have picked the squad for World Cup - barring injury - I don't think you should make any changes. Yes, there are guys at the moment who are not in their great form, but it only takes one innings - whether it's bowling or batting - to change that form around, and that could still happen before the end of the IPL. So, if you think that's the best 15 you've picked going to the World Cup, my personal opinion, I would stick with it, because you gotta show faith in people even when things are not looking so good, because things can turn around very quickly," said Ajit Agarkar.
