England spinner Jack Leach has finally opened up on the pitch debate but from a fan's perspective.
After the third Test match at the Narendra Modi Stadium got over in just two days, the shortest Test match to happen on Indian soil, the pitch at the Motera ground has come under the scanner.
Though players from the Indian and England camps have maintained that there were no demons in the pitch, Leach felt the Test matches should last at least three days.
"One thing I will say as a cricket fan if I was watching a Test match, I would want it to go longer than two days, that is my only kind of viewing being a cricket fan. Test match should go on longer than two days, whether that is to the pitch or skill, for me, I am fully concentrating how can I best do on every wicket I play on," Leach said in a virtual press conference on Monday.

Leach felt England were outplayed by the Indians in the third Test. "They outbowled us on that wicket. R Ashwin is a world-class bowler. Axar Patel was very good on that wicket. All the talk has been in the media, in the dressing room, we just talk about getting better," remarked Leach, who claimed four wickets in the low-scoring affair which India won by 10 wickets to take a 2-1 lead.
The left-arm spinner advocated better preparation for pitches back home where spinners can also be developed.
