Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp, who is widely tipped to be the next England manager, has admitted that it would be very hard to turn down the job, but also claims that he would be 'mad' to accept it.
"It's a difficult one. You are on a hiding to nothing no matter who you are and what you've achieved in the game. I think you have to be a bit barking mad to take it, that's for sure," the Daily Mirror quoted Redknapp, as saying.
"Whoever gets the job is going to get stick. There is no honeymoon period, you have to hit the ground running from day one and keep the momentum going."
"And it's not just the media who get on your back. Everyone has an opinion, right or wrong, when it comes to England," he added.
Current manager Fabio Capello will step down after the 2012 European Championship. (
