Poonam Yadav may have been third time unlucky to clinch a hat-trick but her father Raghuveer Singh is sure that "one day" luck will shine.

"She came close to it [hat-trick] twice, but lady luck did not favour her.

However, I am sure she will grab the hat-trick one day," Yadav Sr said on Friday. "We are happy that her performance won her the Player of the Match award," he added.

Yadav's father is a retired Army officer. He watched the match from a college in Hathras in Uttar Pradesh where he is a lecturer, while his family followed the Down Under action from their home in Agra.

Yadav's rapid strides at the international level have made the family not regret the decision to allow their daughter to play cricket. "No girl played cricket in our family. We were reluctant to let her to play this game. She always played with the boys," said her father.
