Batting first on winning the toss, the New South Wales made 135 for eight and Cobras replied with 136 for three in 17.2 overs for an easy victory.

"We didn't field well at the start and dropped a couple of catches. But we came back well thereafter and bowled well in the middle overs. We took the pace off the ball."

"However, we have to improve for our next game for we cannot afford to drop catches off quality batsmen. I thought we got a bit ahead of ourselves at the start," said Kemp.

Blues skipper Simon Katich was disappointed and said they were well short of the target in mind, but hoped to regroup and come back strongly in the tournament.

"I am disappointed to lose. We should have got at least 150. We didn't capitalise on the two dropped catches early in the innings.

I thought we did bowl well overall, but like I said, we were short by 15 to 20 runs. We will now have to re-group and come back strongly," said Katich.
