The 44-year-old South African is happy with the tremendous improvement teams have shown when it comes to fielding, the numerous dropped catches in this tournament notwithstanding.
"Fielding has improved a lot over the years," Rhodes told mid-day, and he believes his countrymen AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis are the best fielders in the game today.
As far as the Indian fielders are concerned, he believes Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina, Ravindra Jadeja and Ajinkya Rahane are at the top of the list.
So what are the essential qualities of a good fielder? "I think to become a good fielder, one has to love fielding first," said Rhodes.
"You have to enjoy it and you have to think that by becoming a good fielder, you are contributing towards your team and you will be applauded by the spectators.
"If you love it, automatically you will be enthusiastic about improving your standards. I was playing hockey, football, rugby in my childhood days.
I enjoyed all ball sports. It really helped me in international cricket," he explained.
Talking about his current assignments, Rhodes said: "My only professional assignment is with Mumbai Indians for which I will go from here to Mumbai."
Has he been approached by South Africa to help them with their fielding? "No I have not got any offer from the South African team to become their fielding coach," he said.
