Former England captain Geoffrey Boycott came down heavily on the Indian team after MS Dhoni's men suffered their third defeat in a row against England at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground here on Saturday.
Boycott doubted India's ability to play swing bowling. "One thing is certain in England, if you don't know how to bat against a moving ball, you just cannot win here.
Acclimatisation was not a problem. They are in this country for more than five weeks now. The problem lies in ability," Boycott told SUNDAY MiD DAY after the visitors lost by an innings and 242 runs.
"I am not surprised that India has lost all the three games to England. One team was very aggressive while the other was too timid. That was the difference between the two teams.
"The Indian team looked very tired, jaded, but still they showed no initiative to overcome it. It is surprising to see no competitiveness in this series. I can imagine how frustrated people back home in India would be. India has failed miserably in all the departments," he added.
Boycott said he wouldn't be surprised to see England winning 4-0. "I will not be surprised to see a whitewash. If four days were good enough to beat a world champion team, there's no way India could have continued to hold on to their No 1 spot. I wonder how they did not bother to think of their reputation," asked the Yorkshireman.
