In another blow to the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), former India batsman Sanjay Manjrekar has quit from the Cricket Improvement Committee (CIC) owing to his media commitments.

Manjrekar informed the MCA a few days ago. "Due to time constraints, I can't do justice to the job with increased media commitments. It's an important position, but I don't have the time to commit to it to do a fair job. I missed the first meeting too," Manjrekar told SUNDAY mid-day in an email.

Manjrekar is Mumbai's third big loss after Wasim Jaffer, who decided to play for Vidarbha for the forthcoming season, and Sairaj Bahutule, who agreed to coach Bengal's Ranji Trophy team after agreeing to guide the Mumbai U-23 team.

Former India batsman Vinod Kambli's name might be considered as Manjrekar's replacement in the CIC. Kambli was part of the last CIC panel before the new committee was formed a couple of months ago under the chairmanship of Dilip Vengsarkar.
