Pakistani cricketer, Shoaib Malik will participate in a T20 football match in Delhi this Sunday. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board is not too pleased with this.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will ask former captain Shoaib Malik to explain his participation in a Delhi event without seeking the board''s permission.

According to Indian media reports, Malik featured in a Delhi club tournament, just a few days after representing Pakistan in the second Twenty20 against Sri Lanka, reports The Express Tribune.

Media reports quoted senior Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officials as expressing their surprise over the issue, as even the Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) did not inform the board about Malik''s participation.

According to the report, apart from the IPL, the BCCI does not allow foreign players to feature in domestic tournaments.

"We were unaware of his involvement. We''ll question him since he''s a centrally contracted player, but we cannot take any decision without hearing from him," said a PCB official.

Another official, however, downplayed the controversy by saying: "The event wasn''t held under the BCCI''s umbrella. Participation in an ordinary event is not an offence. The permission is required for sanctioned and major leagues or tournaments. We haven''t received any message from the BCCI yet. u00a0
