The in-form Indian batsmen appear to have the measure of Muralitharan's bowling.
Their collective brilliant batting against the off-spinner may prompt him to bid adieu to international cricket well before the 2011 World Cup on the sub-continent, something the Sri Lankan has already hinted at.
Asked during his pre-match media conference in Rajkot yesterday to comment on Muralitharan in the light of his pathetic show against his batsmen, the Team India captain said: "He has been playing international cricket for a long time now. But at some point of time in your career you have to decide how long you want to continue playing."
Sporting a broad smile and bubbling with joie de vivre, Dhoni added: "Muralitharan is a great bowler. He is a proven match-winner. We should not judge him from what has happened to him in the (Test) series.
"He can still have an impact on the game any time in the series."
