The biennial elections of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will now be held on June 17 instead of June 19 as proposed earlier

The biennial elections of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) will now be held on June 17 instead of June 19 as proposed earlier.

The decision to reschedule the polls was taken in the Managing Committee meeting yesterday after considering the fact that it clashed with the holy month of Ramadan, it is learnt.

Amendments differed Meanwhile, the constitutional amendments that the MCA wanted were differed yesterday after some members objected that the time given to go through these amendments is not enough.

Some members also felt that most of the proposed amendments needed legal consent before putting them forward to the General Body, who will then pass them with a two-third majority.

Some of the proposed amendments were related to increase in tenure of the office-bearers and Managing Committee from two to three years.

Another proposal was to only allow authorised signatories of the clubs to contest elections. Currently, a club representative can contest elections.
