Before the T20 series between India and New Zealand began there was a talk about Ashish Nehra getting to play his last game on his home ground. There were speculations on whether Nehra will be in the playing XI in his farewell match after missing out on getting a game in the last T20 series against Australia. But it was all put to rest after India skipper Virat Kohli included him in the playing XI. For the second consecutive day the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) did an appreciable job naming the Ambedkar stadium end on the pacer's name.

This coincidently also turned out to be the end from where Nehra bowled his first over as the crowd chanted his name in unison. On Tuesday, the gate No. 2 of the Ferozshah Kotla stadium was named after former India opener Virender Sehwag. While Sehwag's was a permanent honour, Nehra's name was only for the first T20 game of the New Zealand series. A DDCA official said: "While there could other felicitations for Ashish Nehra, this was just done for this game like we named this end 309 on Sehwag's triple ton in the Test match against South Africa." Earlier, Nehra was also presented with a memento by the team during the pre-match huddle.
