Arch-rivals India and Pakistan being in opposite groups, can only clash against each other in the knock-out stages of this World Cup

Arch-rivals India and Pakistan being in opposite groups, can only clash against each other in the knock-out stages of this World Cup. And the big question is, what happens if the neighbours meet in the final to be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai given the possibility of a political party threatening to the disrupt the game based on the hostile relations between the two countries.

It may be recalled that Mumbai-based Shiv Sena had dug up the Wankhede pitch to prevent an Indo-Pak match in 1991. However, ICC CEO Haroon Lorgat has played down the issue. "It's a speculative question, but if Pakistan do enter the final, there will be no problem for them to play in Mumbai. ICC is prepared for any eventuality," he said.
