"Go Chargers" is the Deccan Chargers' anthem. However, the defending Indian Premier League champions might as well insert the word "home" in between the two words of their anthem.
It is this missing word that will haunt the Hyderabad-based franchisee for a long time to come given that last night's defeat was their ninth on home turf in as many matches. Skipper Adam Gilchrist though blamed his team's loss on the lack of basics rather than the stadium.
"It is very frustrating that the hoodoo of the home ground still says. It was a question of basic, simple controllable things right, particularly in Twenty20. We weren't able to do it to the levels in the past. By that I mean no balls, wides, misfields, overthrows," Gilchrist said.
"Then we made simple mistakes with the bat like run outs and couple of our shot selections needed to be questioned. When you don't do the basics rights, you can't blame it on any stadium."
