Life cannot get better for Australia captain Ricky Ponting.

Life cannot get better for Australia captain Ricky Ponting.

After the Ashes loss to England earlier this year, he claimed some sort of revenge with a 6-1 win over the old enemy in a one-day series.

Now, he is the toast of his country thanks to a second successive Champions Trophy win.

"We've had a few ups and downs in the last seven to eight months, but we have finished well. and now is the time for a good celebration. I'm ecstatic after this win," said Ponting after beating New Zealand at SuperSport Park last night.

"This is the second biggest one-day tournament so it is a special achievement. I'm proud; the whole team is proud but I must give credit to New Zealand for the way they fought," he added.

Australia's star of the tournament Shane Watson attributed his participation in the Indian Premier League to his success. "The IPL really helped me. I wanted to do well here because in 2007 against SA, I was overawed by the atmosphere. Now, after this win and the man of the match award, I'm having better feelings and the achievement is really very
special."
