Chennai: The Madras High Court yesterday directed India Cements Ltd, the Board of Control for Cricket in India and Bihar Cricket Association to file a comprehensive counter-affidavit in response to a petition filed by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

CSK had petitioned the court to stay the two-year suspension imposed on it from playing in the IPL by the Supreme Court-appointed Justice RM Lodha committee.

The court said it would hear the matter next on September 23. The Lodha Committee recommended a two-year suspension of two teams - CSK and Rajasthan Royals - since their team officials were found to be indulging in betting.

The committee also banned for life Gurunath Meiyappan, a former team official of CSK.
