Ex-BCCI prez Anurag Thakur wants SC to review order

Grave and irreparable loss, harm and prejudice will be caused to the Appellant if the application is not heard at the earliest, Anurag Thakur stated

Former BCCI president Anurag Thakur approached the Supreme Court to recall the January 2, 2017 order that terminated him and BCCI secretary Ajay Shirke from their respective posts for not complying with the July 18, 2016 verdict to implement the Justice Lodha Committee report within six months.

In his application, Thakur, stated: "It may be noted that the applicant was not represented in his capacity as the Hon President of the BCCI or in his personal capacity before this Hon'ble Court in the present proceedings at any stage. This fact was also intimated to this Hon'ble Court by the learned Senior Counsel representing the BCCI during the hearing dated 15-12-2016 on which date the judgment stood reserved. Subsequently, the applicant was furnished with the order dated 2-1-2017 by the BCCI once the same was pronounced by this Hon'ble Court.

"On going through the order the Applicant was anguished to read the adverse remarks made by this Hon'ble Court against the Applicant. These remarks have caused immense mental anguish and public embarrassment to the Applicant." Thakur also said that the apex court did not hear his representation before passing the verdict. "This Hon'ble Court, at the time of passing of these adverse remarks against the Applicant, did not hear the Applicant either in person or through counsel.

"This Hon'ble Court did not put the Applicant to notice of the factum of any hearing about his conduct. The Applicant therefore went unrepresented before this Hon'ble Court. "Grave and irreparable loss, harm and prejudice will be caused to the Appellant if the application is not heard at the earliest," Thakur stated.
